Abstract
The incidence of lipoma of the greater omentum in children is very rare. A 12-year-old boy was admitted to the Dept.of Surgery, Kyung Hee University Hospital to evaluate an abdominal mass found in abdominal sonographic images. He complained of intermittent abdominal pain for one month. An adult fist-sized, movable mass was palpated in the RUQ abdomen on physical examination. The CT scan revealed a 10x4.1cm-sized mass with internal septation and calcification, suggestive of a lipoma. Laparoscopic finding showed a lipomaof greater omentum. Laparoscopic excision of the tumor was performed. The histopathological diagnosis was lipoma of the omentum, without evidence of necrosis. The patient recovered uneventfully and was discharged on the 2nd post-operative day.
